Marriage Vows - How True Are They

In the marriage vows, there is a sentence that goes like this "I promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health; I will love you and honor you all the days of my life."

How true are these words when bad times really kicks in????

I was reading the sms which my friend received from his wife.... "how long are you going to settle your bottomless pit of debts. In my own situation, I can perfectly take care of myself and my darling(the baby). Lets divorce"

So in goodness heaven...how true are those vows at this times when my friend is facing some financial problems due to his business....

I understand this might just be a one in a million case..... but........

This is a sad day.........................
